Keep Up With The Outside World On Your Travels With The Help Of An RV Satellite Dish

Upon first consideration, RV satellite dishes  may seem like a frivolous consideration, but if you are planning to spend a week or more in your Holiday Rambler, Airstream, or other RV this year, you will likely want to watch the morning news or your favorite weekly drama, and you cannot get cable in a motorhome on the go.  Thanks to modern conveniences like satellite dishes, you can have access to your favorite shows when you want them.

The Winegard Crankup RV Digital Satellite Dish with DigitalMagic, sold through a number of retailers including campingworld.com, is easy to install.  You can crank it down so that it is safe during travels, and then crank it up when you are set up in camp.  Use the digital LCD screen inside to know the elevation of your dish, and you can raise, lower, and turn it electronically.  It sells for $228.00.

Winegard also offers the Winegard Carry Out Portable Satellite Antennas.  This dish requires some assembly when you first take delivery; the feed arm stores behind the dish and is easily reattached when you reach your destination.  It includes 20 feet of cable and ground anchors, making it safe and easy to use.  You can purchase this product at rvupgradestore.com for $92.10.

If you are looking for something you do not need to install, the Special Economy Portable Dish for Directv and Dish Network sets up on a tripod on the ground outside your RV.  It folds up and packs away easily for transport.  This model is available at bestwaysatellite.com and comes with 50 feet of cable.  This is a great accessory for your Class C motorhome on which you do not want to install a dish directly to the roof, or on your Class A or Class B RV on which you prefer not to add a dish.  The dish is priced at $79.95.

TracVision makes a contemporary satellite dish that is much less conspicuous than traditional discs.  Shaped like a small dome that fits onto the roof of any RV, from Winnebago to Monaco to Fleetwood.  The R6DX is a high definition mobile satellite system that comes with an HDT receiver.  The system installs in a one-and-done process, needing no ongoing outside maintenance.  The system is for sale at kvh.com for $2,299.00.

At talcoelectronics.com you will find a range of electronic accessories and supplies for RV's and mobile homes.  Here you will find a range of TV satellite dishes, including the Winegard Carryout MP1.  This is a portable dish that you do not install on your roof, but place there when parked.  Add sand or water to the base for stability and twist up the satellite dish, and it is ready to receive signal.  This is a great replacement for your old antenna that is virtually worthless in today's HDTV market. Whether you drive a Prevost, Itasca, or similar RV, you can use this product anywhere you go.  Because it does not stay on the room of your RV permanently, it is easy to keep in good repair.  It sells for $77.99.

The sleekest, smallest housing available is featured in the powerful antenna sold at pplmotorhomes.com.  The technology offered by this antenna includes automatic DVB technology for fast detection of a satellite signal.  The system is sold for $831.58.

Obviously, you cannot watch TV without the aid of a satellite dish or antenna when traveling in your RV. There are many RV satellite dishes and antennas from which to choose based on your own tastes and preferences.

By Dan Mercurio
If you have a RV water heater it is likely you have an anode rod in the inner tank. This little critter is probably the most unknown friend to most campers that there is. The anode rod in your water heater is a part in the water heater that makes the inner tank last longer.
